Becoming the Professional Communicator of the Future

Disciplines and functions are converging within organizations, and communications isn’t immune. Professional communicators are expected to adopt new roles and gain broad knowledge outside their traditional field. To blend functions easily, communicators will need to collaborate with other disciplines and departments, and take on cross-functional skillsets.

Our August panel will feature experts who have navigated across different communications functions – from journalism to corporate communications, product management to marketing and communications, and even entertainment law to marketing! Join us to learn how they transitioned seamlessly between various roles, and how their new skills propelled their careers.

Meet Our Panelists:

Jennifer Cho has been through several career pivots, from the music industry to marketing. After graduating from Columbia University, Jen began working in the music industry in New York. After several years in entertainment law, Jen started her own record label and grew from a company of one to a team of 50 people responsible for marketing and distributing internationally released licensing projects. Jen pivoted from the music industry into pharmaceutical marketing and eventually into experiential marketing for a start-up technology firm, FISH, that provides hardware and software for data analytics integrated into tech engagement solutions for large-scale activations. After succeeding at FISH, Jen had an itch to do something different, which brought her to her last career pivot to lead the Dallas office of one of the world’s leading marketing firms, Weber Shandwick. Jen’s track record of success in moving her career across industries is tied together by her ability to inspire, evolve and lead.

Casey Norton is Vice President of Communications & Marketing for Dallas Fort Worth International Airport and is responsible for all crisis communications, domestic and international media relations, global marketing, social media, community engagement, Board and Owner city relations, and internal communications for the fourth busiest airport in the world. He also held the position of Vice President – Media Strategist at Weber Shandwick, one of the world’s leading global public relations firms. Casey gained his newsroom experience working as a reporter and anchor in multiple markets, including Dallas/Fort Worth, Seattle and Houston. Casey holds a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Texas at Austin.
