The Art and Science to Crisis Communications

The many books, articles and “expert” videos on the best way to respond to a crisis are all exactly right and will guarantee your crisis communications will work perfectly – UNTIL THEY DON’T.

Kristen Kauffman and Glen Orr will share their crisis response principles and then, they’ll show you why they’re wrong in the right situation. Using a combination of personal experiences and crises from the news, the team will illustrate why it’s critical to know the principles of crisis communications – and when to abandon them.

At the August 8 IABC professional development luncheon, Glen and Kristen will share an engaging and entertaining look at crisis best practices and discuss some of the most critical decisions faced by crisis communicators.

Looking at real-world crisis, Glen and Kristen will teach by sharing examples of actual crises, how communicators responded during the heat of those crises and the subsequent results. They will get attendees involved by crowdsourcing responses to hypothetical scenarios to demonstrate that crisis communications requires unique skills and experience.
